Wildfires Have Devastated Parts of California

A Personal Insurance Update

The past few years have seen wildfires destroy communities, homes, and people’s lives.  Our thoughts and prayers are with those of you who have suffered a loss.  Experts tell us that the total property loss for these events will reach over 12 billion dollars.

Beginning last fall, California suffered a series of wildfires that damaged or destroyed more than 14,700 homes, according to the state regulator.  Those losses resulted in “more than $9 billion in insured damages so far.”  

Much of the damage was insured—which is a good thing.  However, now experts tell us that there is going to be a growing rate of non-renewals and rate increases for homeowners.
